Again from my public access series REQUIRED VIEWING (1979 - 2007). Art lovers in The city of Lansing Michigan USA rented these delightfully odd sculptures from a noted artist whose name appears as the closing credit of this clip. I knew when the exhibit closed, and that wseekend I was able to tape the strange sculptures, seen here in exhibit, all bunched together waiting to get shipped out! As soon as I find that footage, I'll post it as a companion to this clip. Lansing Michigan USA has an interesting recent history in the world of art. Here, rented sculptures of mothers, fathers, children and pets are sprinkled about a several block area. I have forgotten howe long the art display lasted, but it was an easy thing to film for public access. These images are most odd because this is my hometown, and seeing these lifelike sculptures I remember was pretty weird. I'm sure alot of people driving to work each morning kept passing by the same sculptures. Weird. Out of place and yet, oddly in some cases, exactly where they seemed they should be. There was a pamphlet that gave the locations for each of 'em. On the pamphlet cover was a photo of one of the sculptures which was named "Gotcha". When the collection arrived, "Gotcha" was replaced by "Oops", one of the artists lesser appreciated works. To some, the titles seemed like a vailed message from the artist. You be the judge.
